Tonight I checked out the Columbia undergraduate visual arts senior exhibition thing, led in every sense of the word by the awesome paintings of
Gregory Parma Smith!
Who is this poppa??
"Pissing Death"
"Death Match"
"Burial of Death"(All oil paints on canvas)
Sorry about the blurriness of that last one, it is really sharp and detailed in real life! That is Greg's style, really detailed, he is really real b/c he is 'sXe', 'straight edge', which means that he has basically put all the energy that most people put into drinking and drugs into painting, which is why his paintings are so good! They are not 'goth' BTW also. Greg I hope it is cool that I am reproducing your art in this shitty format in the internet, I am just trying to build some 'buzz' for you dude! Greg is going to be an MFA = MOTHERFUCKIN ARTIST, also at Columbia, next year, so we will be kind of like classmates!!
UPDATE: P-Wolf asks a good question in the comments, namely 'where can I see these?' You can go see them and the rest of the work of Columbia's graduating visual arts majors until May 20th @ the LeRoy Neiman Gallery, which is at 310 Dodge Hall at Columbia University (near the main entrance at 116th & Broadway, take the 1/9 to 116th St).
