**or $5 with costume. this party is being
thrown to raise money to open an autonomous
space in the L.E.S. or brooklyn. the goal is
to open a non-hierarchical, collectively run
community
and performance space where many varied and
exciting new projects can develop, possibly
including but not limited to: free school/free
classes
musical performances, lending library etc.**

* BTW what is up with alphabetically organized Friendsters? They should just randomize them each time, to shuffle it up - when you're just casual Friendster-browsing you want to be able to see if your Friendsters have made any 'interesting' new Friendsters just by checking their Friendster profile page, you don't want to see the same 10 Friendsters every time... (I feel like I've revealed too much already)
** NOTE FROM JOHN TO Aa: Didn't we totally play another 'benefit' for these 'After The Fall' guys last year, at that punk loft in the LES? What the hell did they do with that money, shouldn't we make them file a progress report at least before we help them raise more money? We need to hold these kinds of benefit shows up to more scrutiny in the future, they need to be held accountable! I am not interested in risking our integrity and tarnishing our image - which are our most valuable assets in the long term - to help some fucking neo-hippies make their rent.***
*** Sorry, am having a super 'casual' Friday, eating ice cream for a late breakfast and allowing myself to listen to Wire's "Chairs Missing" for the first time in almost a year probably. These kinds of classic albums are like classic cars, you end up treating them reverently, you don't want to take them out too often because you've got to be able to listen to this for the rest of your life without getting sick of it. In other words, I'm in a 'good mood'. Check that Wire link out, BTW, it's got a shitload of good stuff, not some lame Amazon link - an essay by Wire keyboardist Mike Thorne on the making of "Chairs Missing" - "It became almost a specific requirement to have at least one thing completely fresh and striking about a track" - as well as lots of audio, interviews, &c.
