A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT (WITHOUT GUITARS): Aa + Parts & Labor @ Tonic tonight has been CANCELLED, ignore any listings you might see in the Village Voice or TimeOut &c. Part of Tonic's recent financial distress has been a recently busted sewer main, which apparently flooded the basement - the 'subtonic' space, usually set aside for DJ sets - rendering it unusable. Anyway, we were to play the main stage upstairs tonight, with 'techno pioneer' Thomas Fehlman (occasionally of The Orb) and German technopal Gudrun Gut coming through on their world tour to play a long DJ set in subtonic. Given the choice between dumping an established 'techno pioneer' on tour or a pair of local post-noiseniks, Tonic obviously dumped us and put Fehlman upstairs. Understandable - but regrettable! Theoretically the show will be rescheduled ASAP, but with Tonic's 'situation', who knows when that will be... :/
Anyway, they've lined up a few high-profile acts for benefits to try and 'save Tonic' - Yoko Ono + Sean Lennon, Devendra Banhart, Ben Lee, VINCENT GALLO, &c &c. Maybe check it out? I don't know, I'm too bitter. Shouldn't somebody organize a big internet fundraising drive? I don't know, I'm too bitter?
UPDATE: Forgot to mention the fact that, being from Brooklyn and all, a slammin loft party show was just a phone call away - we're playing a big/fun Valentine's Day party out in Williamsburg on Monday, at that loft where we played on my birthday last year, remember? Let me know if you need a reminder.
