I know I am pretty late to the party on this one, but I gotta say that Crank Dat is w/o a doubt one of the richest, most densely variegated internet music phenomenon... EVER? So said 893 in recommending this to me last week, and who am I to argue with a man who is so intimately familiar with such powerful Google cheat codes , the Game Genie of this shit etc!?
Start with the Souljah Boy original , learn the dance - the 'YOUUUU' hook and the Superman shit are obvious genius, big fucking chunks of 21st-century inspiration:
From there, the web is your fucking oyster - check out Noz's thorough compilation of different audio versions loosely based on non-Superman superheroes - Crank Dat Aquaman, Batman, Hulk, Spiderman, Spongebob, Ryu - and definitely do not sleep on Folger's Boy!!
And from there, crank dat Youtube and start searchin - Fader's Crank Dat Jumbotron , a handy 4x4 grid of some of the core variants, is an excellent start. DON'T miss the kid-vid mashups either - edits feat Spongebob, Lion King , and Barney are srs, intense. After spending a couple hours with all this shit, wash yr brain out with this 893 loop-wall of fully cranked insanity -
