First, a joke, thx Dav!:
Knock-knock.
Who's there?
9/11.
9/11 who?
...You said you'd never forget.
Heyyyy! What genius entertainment/homeland security complex overlord decided to make 9/11 the national 50 vs. Ye vs. Kenny Album Release Day? If this isn't a 'return to normalcy', I don't know what is - the American spirit is strong! Though I'm pretty worried about Dipset - the new 40 Cal is out today, too! Where is Cam? Dipset 2 is coming and I've heard like one song off the Freaky Zekey album!
Whatever, anyway, here we are, 6 years later, and so much has changed! On 'the original' 9/11, blogs, social networking sites, Youtube, Big A little a, bittorrenting, '9/11', biofuels, LOST, baile funk, iPods, grime, Gmail, 'freedom', HDTV, madrassas, power hours, RapidShare, the celebrity gossip industry, and electroclash all basically DID NOT EXIST as far as I or most people were concerned! Today, all but Big A little a and electroclash are totally crucial to our way of life! Think about it, that shit was pre-FRIENDSTER. Lindsay Lohan was NOT LEGAL and no one knew who she was anyway! Vampire Weekend, still in high school! NO ONE suspected Crank Dat would ever be the #1 iTunes download, or that there would be soooo many awesome remixes! Would the 9/11 hijackers have felt so alienated if they had had Myspace? 6 years later, are we any closer to knowing how terrorists really work, or what music they listen to, or under what circumstances they'd be willing to pay for music downloads? I guess I'm rooting for Kanye, but not without reservations! I mean I really like his awards show whining but I just find his actual rapping kind of annoying? This Steely Dan-sampling track definitely helped win me over though, thanks Ned!
