Fuuuuuuck, apparently the show at Todd P's
Llano Estacado got shut down by the cops last night!?! Early reports are unclear as to the amount of trouble the venue is in, but it will
totally blow if it gets perma-closed. Todd's already got some
amazing shows lined up (Lightning Bolt, Black Dice, um, BIG A little a next Friday...) for the next couple of months, the place was practically an institution already. Why can't they just leave the scene alone, is it our lot to wander from loft to loft in the jungles of Brooklyn forever, with no permanent home worthy of the name? SAVE THE SPACE!!!
UPDATE: Good news from Todd:
so on Friday night Monster Island - aka the Llano Estacado / Secret Project Robot /
Live With Animals gallery - got raided by the Greenpoint Precinct Police Department. The police hung around for a long time and caused us a lot of anxiety and called the Fire Department and whatnot, but amazingly - though we chose to kill the party
for the night because of worries - they did not shut us down.
In the wake of the authorities poking around the space we've decided to lay low for awhile and get some ducks in order. It makes sense to safeguard the space against permanent trouble -
and at this point it looks like we should be fine in the long run.
