WHY DON'T YOU COME OVER TO MY HOUSE

posted Fri, 11-30-07

PLEASE excuse this interruption in blog-silence to bring you another, far more critical Twin Peaks-related post - Kid Robot kid Grace graciously lent me Julee Cruise's album "Floating into Night" the other day and it is ALL that I am interested in listening to right now.*  A beautiful, tranquilized hybrid of new age textures and vaguely '50sish pop melodies stretched out into ethereal sighs, lyrics by David Lynch, music by Angelo Badalamenti, and otherwordly singing by Ms. Cruise, who makes an absolutely mesmerizing appearance singing the amazing "Rockin' Back Inside My Heart" in season 2 - it's kind of like an enigmatic, melancholy, xanaxed-out Hal David/Burt Bacharach/Dionne Warwick situation, three amazing talents complementing each other perfectly to create a TOTAL VIBE

I AM OBSESSED, join me here - individual MP3s of each track on the basically perfect "Floating into Night" and the only slightly less-perfect "The Voice of Love."  Pay special attention to the unreal Twin Peaks-centric troika of "Falling," "Rockin Back Inside My Heart," and "The Nightingale," also "Floating" and "Mysteries of Love" but obv really you want every single fucking track on this mo!  Perfect for huddling up at home with over a bummerifically work-filled weekend -

* Actually I am also totally psyked to see BIRTHDAY BOYZ at Death By Audio, curated by everyone's favorite Edan, tonite!  You down?  Also I am playing in a ridic jam-semble with mems of These Are Powers, To Live and Shave in LA, Lungfish, etc as a member of Thee Scarcity of Tanks at Dead Herring on Saturday!  Will of course be splitting time heavily with Bol-approved b-day activities for CHRISSSSS -
