A common and satisfying experience when reading a 'Web Log' while 'Surfing' the 'Internet' is starting what begins as a short comment that turns into a long, workday-devouring, half-formed revelation, in the process of which you refine your own thinking. A truly chiasmic moment.
Instead of working these ideas into a really legible form, I will just suggest you check out the discussion at a rare political post at Muck and Mystery about evaluating this administration, its strategy in the War on Terror, and the alternatives. Before any Democratic partisans hyperventilate about the paragraphs re: "Democrats and the rag-tag post-socialist left in general", note that he's just talking about foreign policy here. It's a ramble, but not totally uninteresting (I mean, it's no in-depth discussion of the difference between kerning and quasi-kerning...).
